The adventure concludes with Rick committing to being a father, only to realize that horse-people don’t experience childhood. It’s all a bit disconnected and odd - I’m not sure why Summer offered her egg as a homing beacon (the choice takes place offscreen), but the inevitable result is that Morty’s mutant sperm fertilizes the thing, leading to the formation of a giant incest baby floating around in space, a gross-out gag that amounts to nothing more than an edgy reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey. Oddly enough, Beth’s expertise never comes into play, despite the involvement of the horse-people - her and Summer’s big hero moment comes when the two ride sperm like horses, in a bid to protect Summer’s giant egg from being fertilized.
